Getting Started

Starting therapy can be daunting, uncomfortable, and anxiety-provoking. I am here to answer any questions that you may have about counseling, demystify the process, and create a safe space to begin the work.

You may decide I'm not the therapist for you, and that's okay. I am happy to talk with you for a phone consultation to help decide whether or not working with me is a good fit.

Investment

Insurance

I am an in-network provider for Optum (United Healthcare, Oxford, Oscar), Aetna, and Cigna.

Private Pay Rates

20-minute initial consultation: free

50-minute session: $135

90-minute group counseling session: $50

For out-of-network clients, I can provide a "superbill", which you can submit to your insurance company if your plan offers out-of-network reimbursement.

Good Faith Estimate for Services

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services. You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.

For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.

What to Expect

If you have never participated in therapy before, you may be wondering what to expect from it.

Your first session/initial session is an "intake". The purpose of this session is for me to assess your current concerns and impact on your daily life, as well as any relevant clinical history. The intake helps to identify the areas that you would like to address in therapy and collaboratively discuss goals. From here, we will be able to have a framework to begin our work together.

You may be familiar with the expression, "therapy is a process". I believe in first establishing a sense of safety and trust, and creating a foundation to do the work you want to do.

Therapy is not always easy. In fact, for some people, it is HARD. There are some sessions that you may not leave feeling better. A lot of the progress that you may see, may not occur in the hour that we are together in session, but in what you take from it and apply to your life outside of session. Therapy with me isn't about coming in for "advice", but helping you become your true self and make decisions based on the person you want to be.
